“Mediterranean Debates” TV Show on Migrations

  • Starts: Sep 18, 2015
  • Ends: Sep 18, 2015
  • Location: Marseille, France
  • By: CMI, France Médias Monde, MuCEM

  • The CMI is partnering with France 24 TV channel and the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations (MuCEM) for the co-production of new trilingual TV debate show series: “The Mediterranean Debates”.

The first edition will be dedicated to a key issue that is on everyone’s agenda: refugees and migration across the Mediterranean.

The show will be recorded on September 18th at the MuCEM in Marseille, in three hour episodes corresponding to the three languages – Arabic, French and English – and will be broadcasted on France 24’s corresponding language channels on Friday 18 September at 7:10 pm (Paris time). It will later be made available on France 24’s, MuCEM’s and CMI’s websites.

A total of twelve speakers will animate the discussions and explore new approaches to the widespread phenomenon of migration in the Mediterranean. For this purpose the show will also be featuring special infographic segments.

The CMI, along with France 24 and the MuCEM are looking into renewing the operation, on a bi-annual basis.

This collaboration falls in line with the Memorandum of Understanding between France Médias Monde and the CMI in May 2015. It also builds on the successful first edition of the show produced by France24 and the MuCEM in December 2014 and tackling the topic of freedom of speech following the Arab Spring.
