Workshop: South-South dialogue on “How to engage with diaspora networks? Moroccan Initiatives and International Experiences” (Rabat)

On the basis of earlier requests expressed by different government bodies, the ILM team organized a workshop for institutions working on diaspora related activities at the World Bank office in Rabat. The following topics were covered in the event, which was jointly organized with the Moroccan government: (i) Good practices in the field of consular services to protect vulnerable migrants, (ii) Policies and programs to engage with high-skilled migrants, and (iii) Methodological guidance on the design of an information system to collect and analyze migration data. The objectives of the workshop were to gain an overview of ongoing Moroccan initiatives, to present international case studies (identified on the basis of expressed needs and interests), and to discuss subsequent joint activities. Through this workshop, the ILM team positioned itself as an intellectual and technical partner supporting Morocco’s ongoing process to outline a national migration strategy aimed at improving human development outcomes for Moroccan migrants and their families, while also benefitting Morocco’s development prospects.
