[Regional Conference] Mediterranean of the Future - Act 2: Youth & Innovation First!

  • Starts: Nov 13, 2018
  • Ends: Nov 13, 2018
  • Location: Villa Méditerranée, Marseille, France
  • By: CMI, Region SUD Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur
  • [Workshop] Youth as Drivers for Change in the Mediterranean

Young people from the Mediterranean face a threefold exclusion on the economic, social and political levels, preventing them from achieving fulfillment in the working life and in the public sphere.

300 million young people will enter the labor market in the Middle East and North Africa region by the year 2050[1].

It is imperative to support these young people in accomplishing their aspirations by investing - qualitatively - in the human capital that this youth represent and to turn this demographic opportunity into an engine for growth in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

    Workshop Objectives

In an effort to address the current preoccupations of youth in the region, the CMI lead a workshop that presented opinions of youth and experts on significant topics of interest such as education, employment, and skills enhancement and explored ways for better integration of youth in the region. This workshop highlighted innovative practices and emphasized the link between education - in a broad sense - and employability to enable young people to become agents for change.

The Mediterranean of the Future - Act 2

The CMI-led workshop was organized within the frame of the Mediterranean of the Future - Act 2. For its second edition, the Mediterranean of the Future chose youth and innovation to be at the heart of the debate. Multiple workshops and roundtables took place around the event’s central question: how to work together to create a favorable environment to foster youth and innovation in the Mediterranean?

The Mediterranean of the Future brought together high-level representatives from governments of both rims of the Mediterranean, regional and local authorities, experts from local and international organizations, young entrepreneurs and representatives of academia with a common goal: to draw the Mediterranean of tomorrow!

Participants’ travel and accommodation fees are not covered by the CMI.
