Highlights

From 17^th to 19^th September, the Center for Mediterranean Integration will organize an integrated training for the CMI-managed Mediterranean Youth for Water (MedYWat) Coordination group in Bari, Italy.  The group will also participate in the second edition of the CIHEAM Mediterranean Forum “Research and Innovation as Tools for Sustainable Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Security” for PhD students and young researchers of the Mediterranean region (18-20 September 2018 at CIHEAM/IAMB Bari, Italy).

The CMI/MEDYWAT workshop will focus on MedYWat’s youth and water action plan for the coming year which will be anchored in “Water and Migration in the Mediterranean”- the main theme of the CMI Water program. The program includes a brainstorming session to envision MedYWat's focus themes and specific projects in the build-up to and during World Water Day 2019, which will contribute to various CMI activities leading up to World Water Day 2019 focusing on “Water and Migration”. 

The coordinators will also discuss in depth the Water and Migration theme by participating in a workshop to better understand the water-related challenges facing refugees and migrants in emitting, transit and host countries in the Mediterranean. During the final group session, the MedYWat coordinators will outline and produce an action plan for MedYWat 2018-2019, which will then be presented to the entire MedYWat network.
