Adaptation to Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management in Greater Tunis

Tunis, May 9, 2012

This workshop is the third step of a long dissemination process of the results of the regional study in Tunisia, the first one being the national workshop that was organized at the end of phase 1, and the second one the regional workshop that took place in Marseille in May 30-31, 2011, for the presentation of the final results. It was organized by CMI and AUGT (Urban Planning Agency of Greater Tunis) upon the request of the Tunisian Ministry of Public Facilities (Ministère de l’Equipement) to pursue the dissemination of the results in Greater Tunis and to facilitate the design of an action plan by local decision makers. The workshop aimed at achieving the following objectives:

  1. Raise awareness of local decision makers regarding climate change and natural disaster risks in Greater Tunis;
  2. Provide local decision makers in Greater Tunis with knowledge tools for the design of evidence based public policies regarding adaptation to climate change and disaster risk management;
  3. Involve all stakeholders in the design of an action plan for adaptation to climate change and disaster risk management in Greater Tunis.
