The Network of Urban Developers in the Mediterranean gathered for a workshop at the Villa Valmer in Marseille on October 22, 23 and 24.
Entitled «Implementing economic development strategies in large, sustainable urban projects in the Mediterranean : Employment and innovation policy in sustainable urban projects”, the workshop was organized by the French Caisse des Dépôts et des Consignations, the Etablissement Public d'Aménagement Euroméditerranée, European Investment Bank, Agence Française de Développement and the CMI.
The workshop convened over 50 urban stakeholders representing public and private urban developers, International Financial Institutions, long term investors and regional multilateral institutions, from 6 Mediterranean countries: France, Italy, Jordan, Morocco, Spain and Tunisia.
It focused on processes and tools to design cities that generate employment, innovation and sustainable growth. It led to knowledge sharing and better understanding of the role of urban developers in structuring value streams, of the links between economy and territory, and of what is needed to achieve balanced economic development through urban projects.
