The Center for Mediterranean Integration (CMI)/UNOPS and the World Bank are organizing a consultative virtual workshop on December 15, 2021, to discuss the preliminary findings of the World Bank - CMI/UNOPS report "COVID-19 and Migration in the Mediterranean''.
The report explores the challenges and opportunities for mobility in the Mediterranean region following the COVID-19 outbreak and draws attention to the tension between mobility restrictions and the continued need for migrant workers in essential jobs in destination countries.
The aim of the consultative virtual workshop is to leverage feedback on the main findings and conclusions of the report. The team will present the main findings of the report, followed by an open discussion with representatives from institutions, civil society actors, and policymakers, who will share their views on i) key entry points for an effective dialogue; ii) helping the team perfect a cogent narrative and iii) any potential sensitivities arising.
