Yara Acaf

A holder of a master's degree in Environmental Policy Planning from the American University of Beirut (AUB), Yara Acaf is an environmental scientist and activist from Lebanon. She has previously worked with REVOLVE Media and is now a Research and Development Assistant at UN-ESCWA. Yara is the founder of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) Lebanese chapter, which advocates for biodiversity conservation and youth mobilization. She is also a member of the Mediterranean Youth for Climate Action Network (MedYCA).

Aya Ibrahim

Aya Ibrahim is a Researcher on Climate Change Policies at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia. Her research work also expands in the fields of water resources, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable development. She has a Master’s degree in Sustainable Development from the University of St Andrews, and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health with a minor in Public Health from the American University of Beirut. Ms. Ibrahim is also a member of the Mediterranean Youth for Climate Action (MEDYCA) network.

Bianca Carrera

Member of the Mediterranean Youth for Climate Action Network (MedYCA), an intern at the United Nations Association of Spain, and collaborator-writer at the Spanish Think-And-Do Tank ‘Puerta de África’ and the international strategy consultancy ‘RelaciónateyPunto’, Bianca Carrera is a specialist in geopolitics in the African and Middle Eastern regions.

Salah El Sadi 

Salah El-Sadi, holds a master's degree from Al-Azhar University, Palestine, in water and environment, a bachelor's degree in industrial chemistry from Al-Azhar University and a higher diploma in entrepreneurship. He works at the Palestinian Economy Ministry as head of the engineering industries department, and as an entrepreneurship trainer with many associations locally in Gaza and internationally. He is very interested in scientific research in fields related to water, environment, agriculture and nanotechnology and promotes these as an active member of the Mediterranean Youth for Climate Action network.  

I have many courses locally and internationally in various fields related to business, environment, water, and agriculture.

Ahlam Kasem

Ahlam Kasem is a Syrian civil engineer working for the General Organization of Remote Sensing (GORS) in Damascus as a technical engineer of the environmental researches and regional planning department. She is also a member of the Climate Change Monitoring Project for which she monitors and maps water body changes and urban expansion. She is also a member of the Mediterranean Youth for Climate Action network.

Mezra Öner

Mezra Öner is an urban planner working on environment, humanitarian aid, and development projects in Turkey since 2014. Currently, she is working as a program officer at the Promotion of Economic Prospects for Syrian Refugee and Host Communities Programme in the GIZ Turkey Office. Besides, she takes part in the Mediterranean Youth for Climate Action network.  

Candost Aydın

Candost Aydın, living in Ankara, is working as program coordinator for GIZ Turkey’s Promotion of Economic Prospects for Refugees and the Host Community Programme. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a master’s degree in Asian Studies. He enjoys conceptualization and coordination of projects as well as moderating workshops. He cares about nature, animals, and living beings and enjoys camping, photography, carpentry, music production, and drawing. Since 2020, he is a member of the CMI Mediterranean Youth for Climate Action network.

Alaa Emad El-Din Selim

Alaa Emad El-Din Selim is a researcher in the electrical power and renewable energy engineering field with a master of science in energy systems. He is a focal point at the Medywat network supervised by the Center of Mediterranean Integration (CMI) where he worked on research in integrating renewable energy resources for the sustainable blue growth economy as well as a member of the Mediterranean Youth for Climate Action (MedYCA) network. He has also participated and volunteered in many capacity-building programs in Egypt like Egypt Scholars, Marj3  educational platform, Ihyaa Academy, AIESEC Egypt, IEEEXTREME Egypt, and FES/CEDARE sustainability program. These programs have allowed him to work directly for youth development in many areas such as energy and environmental awareness, mentoring, coaching, and technology applications.

Njoud Mashouka

Njoud Mashouka graduated from IE University with a Bachelor in International Relations specialized in Governance of Emerging Technologies and Innovation.  Currently, she is the Climate Action Associate at Vertis Environmental Finance where she partakes in creating a zero-carbon economy.  Her passions include mitigating climate change, achieving gender equality, and creating a low carbon economy with a strive for a sustainable future.

Dalia Abulfotuh

Dalia Abulfotuh is an Agricultural Officer at FAO’s Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa where she coordinates the work on rural migration, social protection, territorial development, decent employment and youth. She has a background in natural resource management and more than 15 years of experience working as a researcher and development practitioner in the NENA region. She also takes part in the Mediterranean Youth for Climate Action network.

Cristian Chiavetta

Cristian Chiavetta is an Environmental Engineer who graduated from the University of Bologna with a Ph.D. in Life Cycle Assessment of renewable energy and secondary materials production. He is working as a researcher at the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA) in the Valorization of Resources Laboratory (RISE). For the last ten years, he has been working in the field of Circular Economy with a specific focus on Sustainability Assessment with Life Cycle perspective. He coordinates Italian and International projects focusing on Sustainable Development and supports companies of the Blue Economy in eco-innovation paths through the implementation of industrial symbiosis instruments and circular economy principles. He is an expert on Life Cycle Assessment Methodology (LCA), Efficient Management of resources and Green Public Procurement (GPP) and he is one of the 10 Italian experts on Circular Economy selected by the Italian Ministry for the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) to represent Italy in the CMI supported Summit of Two Shores initiative. He is also a member of the MedYCA network.

Intissar Rouabhia

Intissar Rouabhia is pursuing her second master’s degree at Birkbeck University of London, where she is studying Global Environmental Politics and Policy. She holds a research master’s degree in Natural Ecosystems Management and Natural Resource Valuation. She conducted her master's thesis on climate change and its impact on extreme weather events, with the aim of understanding this interrelation through the analysis of extreme indices from a multi-model approach. In 2017, Intisar completed her engineering studies in agronomy at the National Institute of Agronomy of Tunis. In addition to her background in science and research, Intissar has a strong interest in climate change and environmental policy, as she believes that science and policy complement each other to respond effectively and rapidly to environmental challenges. She is an author of “A Green Recovery for a more resilient Mena region: Youth Perspective on Energy, Climate and Mobility” and "Climate & Energy in the MENA Region: Youth Perspective to a Sustainable Future": two policy papers for the MENA region that advocate for a just energy transition and present recommendations for improving climate change mitigation and adaptation approaches. Intissar is also a regional facilitator for the MENA region with the Major Group of Children and youth (MGCY) to UNEP and a member of the CMI - Mediterranean Youth for Climate Action network. As a climate change advocate and a rising environmentalist, Intisar aims to be at leadership positions and shape environmental policies. 

Kristina Xhiveli is an environmental and urban waste management specialist as well as an environmental activist from Albania, who has completed a master's degree in Environmental Biology at the University of Tirana. She is a member of the OSCE advisory group on environmental crimes in Albania as well as the Mediterranean Youth for Climate Action Network (MedYCA) and the Mediterranean Youth for Water (MedYWat).
