The change process that Arab states are undergoing nowadays requires the region to adopt a more innovative approach to development, an approach based on the localization of knowledge and empowerment of youth as change agents. The latest UNDP Arab Knowledge report (2014) discusses the necessity of building a knowledge based society and economy, for which Arab youth should be the main pillar, in the Arab region to effectively address the growing challenges on various social and economic levels, as well as on local, regional and international levels.
