  • In order to ensure a constant follow-up to the face-to-face trainings and knowledge activities provided within the Community of Practice on Employment and Social Safety Nets, the World Bank organizes a set of virtual workshops. The following one focused on the Best Practices for the Delivery of Social Programs Using Smart-Cards Technology.

     

    Objectives

    The goal of this virtual mini-workshop was to focus on regional best practices for the delivery of social programs using smart-cards technology. The World Bank invited Dr Magdy Elhennawy, Egyptian smart-card expert who showcased the Egyptian Smart Card System to deliver food subsidies.

     

    Scope of the Activity

    During this workshop the guest speaker presented the Egyptian experience in establishing the Family Card System (FCS) to deliver food subsidies to high level government officials from Djibouti, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Territories, Tunisia, and Yemen.
