The CMI, the World Bank, Ryerson Global Diversity Exchange, and the Bertelsmann Foundation organized a launch of a joint initiative entitled “Opening Doors and Minds: Urban Migrant Inclusion in Policy and Practice.” The initiative will result in a publication tackling migration issues from policy formulation to practice. The publication presents a review of the patterns of migration policy around the world and proposes a theoretical framework to understand the migration policy formation process, and how migration attitudes can impact governments’ policy decisions. It also looks into ways in which local policies can help (or hinder) migrants’ success and highlights innovative practices implemented by local authorities.
