CMI - MARSEILLE CENTER FOR MEDITERRANEAN INTEGRATION

HIGHLIGHTS

Sustainable MED

The Sustainable MED program is a 5 year program aimed at enhancing and accelerating the implementation of trans-boundary pollution reduction, improving water resources management, and developing biodiversity conservation measures in priority hotspots and sensitive areas in selected Mediterranean basin countries that would help to achieve the Strategic Action Plans (SAP MED and SAP BIO) targets. The Sustainable MED program complements other regional initiatives, including the Barcelona Convention/UNEP-MAP programme, the EC funded LIFE third countries and SMAP programs, the Mediterranean Technical Assistance Programme (METAP), and will work through another Global Environment Facility (GEF) Program -- the Mediterranean Sea Large Marine Ecosystems Partnership -- jointly implemented by the MENA and ECA regions of the Bank and by UNEP, and currently under implementation with committed financial support.
